2. App Reports

— Introduction
The App Reports page is a sub-section of Monetization, located at clients.adcolony.com/reports/apps. At the top, you will see a set of filters below "Saved Settings" options. By default, the following are selected (see below):
  • All apps are selected
  • Date is grouped in daily intervals
  • Results are grouped by date
  • All platforms are selected
  • This Month is selected as the date range

To view this default report, you can simply click the "Generate Report" button, which will display a result like this:

As you can see, the generated report reflects all of your app activity, by day, for the month. You can also download a comma-separated values (CSV) file of this report for offline analysis by clicking on the "Download Report" button.

Important Note: The data table contains more columns than the container supports. Please scroll to the right to access the entire data set. Alternatively, you can download the report for offline viewing.

— Customization
You'll likely want to customize the selections in order to tailor reports to the needs of your organization. The following selections are available:
  • App Filters
Choose specific apps to report on.
  • Date Grouping
Choose the date interval for each row of your report. For instance, if you choose a "Weekly" date grouping for September, 2013, you'll see 5 rows of data, summing up the results for each week of the month.
  • Group By
Break out your report by date (default), app or zone. When grouping by app or zone, each entry will have its own row, per date interval over the date range specified.
  • Platform
Filter results by iOS, Android, or the Amazon store. By default, no filters are applied.
  • Date Range
Specify the period for which you'd like to pull data. You can select from one of many presets such as Today, This Week or This month, as well as enter a custom range.

In the example below, we've selected two apps, with a weekly date grouping, grouped by app, starting the week of 8/26/2013. You can see the data reflected in the charts and data table below reflect this.

— Save Functionality
Once you've configured a report to your needs, you may want to save it for later use. You can do this by clicking the "Save As" button at the top of the page.

After clicking, name your preset report and click the "Save" button. You can then re-access this report by selecting it from the the "Saved Settings" drop-down. To delete, edit, or rename an existing report, first select it from the "Saved Settings" drop-down, then click on the arrow next to the "Save" button to access the additional options (seen below).

— Metrics Definitions
Various screens of the AdColony Client Portal report on app metrics:

Apps Index Page

The following metrics appear on this page:
  • Earnings - Revenue earned by your apps from AdColony backfill ads.
  • eCPM - Earnings per 1,000 impressions of AdColony backfill ads.
  • Fill Rate - Percent of ads requested by the app to be played that triggered a video start (this is the same as an impression event).  Fill rate tracks how often AdColony starts an ad in response to the app asking the SDK to play an ad from cache.  It does not distinguish whether the played ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads.
  • Requests - Number of ads requested by the app to be played by the SDK.  It does not distinguish whether the requested ads were for AdColony SaaS or for AdColony backfill ads.
  • Impressions - Number of ads played by the SDK (a video start must be triggered).  It does not distinguish whether the played ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads.
  • CVVs - Number of completed views of ads played by the SDK (a video complete must be triggered).  It does not distinguish whether the completed ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads.
  • Use Rate - Percent of unique daily active users of the app that started playback of an ad from the SDK.  Use rate tracks the proportion of the app’s users who actually see an ad played by the SDK.  It does not distinguish whether the returned ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads.
  • DAU - Number of daily active users for the app.
App Detail Page

The metrics on this page are the same as the ones on the “Apps” page, but broken out by each zone in the app.

App Reports Page
The metrics in the bar charts on this page include some of the same metrics from the “Apps” page.  However, in the CVV bar chart, each date’s CVV count is broken out between AdColony backfill ads (labeled as “AdColony”) and AdColony SaaS (labeled as “Publisher-owned ad sources”).

The metrics in the table include many of the same metrics from the “Apps” page.  In addition, the impressions metric is broken out by the following (each requires a video start to have been triggered):
  • House Impressions - Number of ads played by the SDK that were from the publisher’s house campaigns running in AdColony.  This represents the number of impressions served via the publisher’s house ads.
  • House CVVs - Number of completed views of ads played by the SDK that were from the publisher’s house campaigns running in AdColony.  This represents the number of completed video views served via the publisher’s house ads.
  • Completion Rate - Percent of total impressions that resulted in completed views.  Completion rate tracks how often AdColony finishes playing an ad when the app asks the SDK to play the ad.  It does not distinguish whether the played ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads or from publisher house ads.
  • Total Clicks - Number of clicks on ads played by the SDK.  This includes clicks on any in-video overlay button/image, as well as clicks on any end card unit that go to a destination URL (note that it does not include any tap-to-fullscreen event on an Instant-Feed™ ad within the zone).  It does not distinguish whether the clicked ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads.
  • AdColony Clicks - Number of clicks on ads played by the SDK that were from AdColony backfill ads.  This includes clicks on any in-video overlay button/image, as well as clicks on any end card unit that go to a destination URL.  This represents the number of clicks generated via AdColony backfill.
  • House Ad Clicks - Number of clicks on ads played by the SDK that were from the publisher’s house campaigns running in AdColony.  This includes clicks on any in-video overlay button/image, as well as clicks on any end card unit that go to a destination URL.  This represents the number of clicks generated via publisher house ads.
  • Total CTR - Percent of total impressions that resulted in a click.  Total CTR tracks how often a user clicked on an ad played by the SDK.  It does not distinguish whether the played ads were from AdColony SaaS or from AdColony backfill ads or from publisher house ads.
  • AdColony CTR - Percent of AdColony impressions that resulted in a click.  AdColony CTR tracks how often a user clicked on an ad played by the SDK that was from AdColony backfill.
The last set of metrics included in the table are shown below:
  • Average DAU - Daily active users over one of the following:
    • If the report groups by Date or Organization, average DAU is taken over the number of filtered apps with non-zero DAUs plus the number of days represented by the given table row
    • If the report groups by App with Country Breakdown or App with Global Region Breakdown, average DAU is taken over the number of countries in which the filtered app had non-zero DAUs plus the number of days represented by the given table row
  • Total DAU - Total daily active users across all apps, countries and days represented by the given table row.
  • Average MAU - Monthly active users over the following:
    • If the report groups by Date or Organization, average MAU is taken over the number of filtered apps with non-zero MAUs plus the number of days represented by the given table row
  • Total MAU - Total monthly active users across all apps, countries and days represented by the given table row.
  • DAU/MAU - Total daily active users over total monthly active users.
  • Ad ARPDAU - Earnings over total daily active users.
  • Sessions - Number of user sessions measured across all apps, countries and days represented by the given table row.
  • Average Session Time - Total session time across all apps, countries and days represented by the given table row over the number of sessions.
